Kids Hot Chocolate first turned into Kids On Chocolate (thanks esl) then turned into Kins On Chocolate which may or not become the newest band on the streets....maybe after another pow pow? Either way, the thought of starting a band alone pumped us all up pretty good.

This is a top purchased a while ago. It was brought home, shortened, had chunks cut out of it and filled with lace then put on and was showed around town in true 100% linen style.

This is a pound cake recipe that we're into. If you end up making it and then you find yourself offering a slice to someone, we suggest you punch them in the arm as you ask, "do you want to try some of my POUND cake?"...in the similar style of sighting a punch buggy. Violence plus cake...mmmm...delicious. Ps, this recipe is from this show we check out from time to time on the Food Network called SUGAR.

Ingredients:
Cake Part
3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp finely grated lemon zest
2 large eggs room temperature
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp fine salt
1/2 cup full-fat sour cream...(try substituting yogurt or cottage cheese for this part if you're not feeling the sour cream)

Topping Part
2 tbsp light brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Directions:
Cake Part
1) Preheat oven to 325 °F. Grease an 8 ½ by 4 ½ inch loaf pan and dust lightly with flour, tapping out excess.
2) Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and lemon zest and add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a separate bowl, sift flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Add half of the flour to the butter mixture, blending gently to incorporate. Stir in sour cream, then blend in remaining flour. Scrape batter into prepared pan.

Topping Part
1) For topping, combine all ingredients to blend and sprinkle on top of cake. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, until a tester inserted of the canter of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool for 20 minutes before turning out to cool completely

We were pleasantly surprised when we caught the Handsome Furs open for !!! on Sunday night. Handsome furs is a duo: lead singer also plays for wolf parade and his bandmate's from some cool ass female planet of half shirts and plaid shorts. His voice was fun and familiar; her sound gave us more than we expected. Her beats were amazing and definitely helped to wake us up. All in all, great show opener. Their albums awesome. Pick it up for sure and then myspace them for fun.

1) This guy is ridiculous (in a good way)! His shows are crazy entertaining. His outfits, molestable. His giant computer set up was like nothing we've ever seen. 2) The opener for Idle Tigers was equally beautiful to watch. They go by Olenka & the Autumn Lovers. Their folky sound and their polish/van/london, ontaio background made us happy. Naoshi is another Japanese artist we love to love. lifelounge.com explains it best: Naoshi's colourful, edible-looking, syrupy sweet, cute as a button artworks are only made better because of her technique. No ordinary pictures, Naoshi's creations are Sunae painting, otherwise known as sand-painting. Pretty much, she takes all differently coloured sand and arranges it into a work of art. Yeah, that's right. Sand!

The craft of sand-painting was traditionally practiced by Indigenous Australians, Tibetan monks, Indians and some Native and Latin Americans and was often attached to religious or healing ceremonies. Naoshi says that while it's an incredibly time consuming and patience testing method, the satisfaction of finishing a Sunae painting outshines any of the negatives.

We discovered Gjetost (pronounced ‘yet-oast’) a little while ago on a trip to Norway, where our most gracious host served it along with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and bread on a very dreamy xmas morning. The slightly sour, caramel taste and unique texture got us hooked after the first bite! We bought a huge block and brought it back home where we realized it is also sold in almost every grocery store!

A combination of goat and cow's milk, this 100% natural cheese is just beyond this world. Because of its slightly natural sweet taste, we prefer to have it for breakfast but you may want to switch it up! We wont judge. Live it up!

"Puberty sucks, and nobody knows it better than 13-year-old Earnest Chin." That was our grabber. Earnest is a chill child of an immigrant who quickly grows up with the help of a new friend, Sam Kim, a Korean Rico Suave. The movie is set somewhere in American so you won't have to read through the movie (aka subtitles), but you will have to deal with a couple of hick american characters who you just want whipped off this planet. We give the movie 3½ stars and Earnest 5!

This might be old news for some, or all of you, but it's official, Mischa Barton and M.I.A. have entered the fashion industry. First, lets talk about Mischa Barton's new handbag collection exclusively sold at asos, an online fashion store. Weird. Her bags are ok. Nothing special. Hold up, that's exactly how we used to describe her acting too...until her dying scene. That was something else and nothing short of amazing. Just thinking about it brings tears to our eyes.
Next up, M.I.A. left her music behind her to pursue a career in fashion designing. Cool? You be the judge...but no judging till the collection comes out...cuz if you start now, you'll be judging a whole bunch of nothing. Scamble Intersections in Toronto

In a few weeks, Toronto is going be introduced with its first scramble intersection; an intersection that stop all car traffic to allow pedestrians full access to cross the street how ever which way they want. Even diagonally! Cars on all four sides of the intersection have to sit it out while pedestrians laugh in their faces. We think it's awesome that Toronto is implementing this. Yonge + Dundas is going to be the first intersection to be scrablefied in August. Plans to give other major Toronto intersections a scramble makeover are also in the talks and include Yonge + Bloor, Bay + Dundas and Bay + Bloor. Look out for them in the fall.

People of Toronto, don't look like a nadid-badid when August rolls around and you're standing at Yonge + Dundas waiting to cross. Diagonally walk that shit with style...just like we used to in Lennoxville, Quebec, the small university town that has been rocking the scramble intersection for years now (so beyond their years). Japan and our own très chic Montreal are other places where you can find this system. Toronto, way to have a shat load of pedestrians too. We love you.
